-The title of this monographic issue is Migrant inhabiting in the city of inclusion: each of the four words of it has to be investigated and, in some ways, specified.
Inhabiting – it is well-known – is a verb from Latin habere-to have but is its frequentative (iterative). Thus, its meaning is “to have with continuity” but not in the sense of “getting in confidence with”, through an experience that
repeat itself over time. This happens when a place – our house, our city and also the world – become adequate to dwell and thus familiar because «[Dwelling is] a retreat at home exactly as in a land of asylum [and the house (or the city)] is possessed because it has been always a place of hospitality […]». But the Mediterranean Sea, sea in between the lands, crossroads of exchanges not only commercial, land where, even if in different forms, hospitality has been for millenniums a rite, has today often transformed in a place of rejection for those who cross it as “migrants”. Nevertheless The human species has been migrating for at least two million years.                                  The brain has grown and the adaptive flexibility and the capabil ity of migration with it. Humans have also evolved thank to migrations: this is one of the reasons why freedom to migrate should be guarantee […]».

Regarding the third word of the title of this issue of DAr, “city” is the place that humans have imagined and built to live together but, again in this case, it seems unfortunately to have lost the capability to donate places, purpose for which it was born. The city instead should come back to be hospitable, welcoming and inclusive: and this cannot be
a generic slogan. In the dictionary the word “inclusion” indicates “the act, the fact of including, of unite in a whole”
